Can you wash a hepa filter with soap and water from a vacuum?
I use a dry paint brush to sweep the dirt off but it doesn’t get it as clean as i would like it to be.
The filter is not that old maybe 3 months. And i do tap it on the side of my sink,a lot comes off that way too.I don’t have a compressor
You can wash it, but it won’t be nearly as efficient as it was before. HEPA filters are carefully manufactured to trap extremely small particles of dust, dander, and other particulates, so when you try to clean them rather than replace them, they will simply not work as well as they should and cause your vacuum to work harder than it should because the air filter is restricting the airflow through it. Most HEPA vacuums have a prefilter that collects the large pieces of dust, paper, hair, and fibers that can be hosed off easily without affecting the performance of the machine, but you shouldn’t try to clean the actual HEPA filter because it may damage it and negate its filtering properties.
Usually, shaking it thoroughly and using compressed air will knock most of the stuff out of it without causing it much damage, but water can clog it up, and depending on what is in it, cause it to solidify into an impenetrable clump.
I am assuming you meant "Can I wash a hepa filter from a vacuum cleaner with soap and water?"
I am sure you are able to. Will doing so harm the filter? Well I would read the instruction manual and check the manufacturers instructions.
